Package of Red's Frozen Steak Burrito
Red's Steak Burrito

My boyfriend's mom bought us some frozen Red's steak burritos when she went to Whole Foods. Unfortunately, the burritos had beans in them that were mushed up with everything. Since I don't like beans, my boyfriend was the only one who ate them. The following is his review of the steak burrito:

The inside of the burrito was mostly a mush of rice, cheese, corn, and beans with a few pieces of fatty steak. There were about 10 pieces of steak in the whole burrito which appeared to be 1cm by 1cm (or smaller) cubes. The steak was OK, but there wasn't enough of it.

The burrito wasn't spicy, and the most predominant taste in the burrito was brown rice. Leftover sauce packets from Taco Bell had to be used to make it taste better.

Healthy Choice BBQ Steak with Red Potatoes Packaging
BBQ Steak with Red Potatoes

I cooked this frozen meal following the microwave instructions.

The beef was nice and tender, but it was a little grisly. There weren't a lot of pieces of beef, either (maybe 6 pieces). The corn tasted fine, but the potatoes were mushy and tasted overcooked.

The BBQ sauce tasted more just like a sweet sauce rather than a BBQ sauce. There wasn't a lot of the sauce, but that could be a good thing because it might have been too sweet with more of the sauce.

After I ate this meal, I still had to go find something else to eat because it wasn't very satisfying.

Posada Steak & Cheese Burritos
Plate of Posada Steak & Cheese Burritos

I bought a box of the Posada steak & cheese burritos to try from Costco. I liked that the burritos had steak and cheese and no filler beans (since I don't like beans).

I followed the microwave directions on the back and microwaved one burrito for 90 seconds.

The overall taste of the burrito was pretty savory with a faint, underlying tomato taste. The green chilies are fairly prominent, and the shredded steak pieces are fairly respectable for a frozen burrito.

The burrito was very similar to the El Monterey Steak and Cheese burritos, and it tasted good overall.
