Trader Giotto's Gnocchi alla Sorrentina cooked

My boyfriend doesn't like pasta as much as I do, but he does like gnocchi, so we decided to try some of Trader Joe's frozen Gnocchi alla Sorrentina (Sorrento style). I've never had gnocchi before so I don't know what "real" gnocchi is like.

The frozen gnocchi came with the little frozen discs of sauce that often come with Trader Joe's frozen pastas. Following the cooking instructions on the bag, we microwaved the gnocchi for 4 minutes, stirred, and microwaved it for another 3 minutes.

The gnocchi was a little on the doughy / chewy side. My boyfriend said it was softer than gnocchi he has had in the past, and he thought that it seemed a little overdone and that we maybe should have microwaved it for less time.

The sauce the gnocchi was in was a standard tomato and cheese sauce. I liked that the sauce was more savory and didn't have any weird, sweet or tangy taste. The sauce was also a good consistency and wasn't watered down. The gnocchi, tomato sauce, and cheese went pretty well together.

Package of Isabella's Kitchen Chile Verde Chicken Enchilada from Costco

Slice of Isabella's Kitchen Chile Verde Chicken Enchilada from Costco

We've noticed that Costco stopped carrying Isabella's Chicken Enchilada Bake a while ago and started carrying Isabella's Chile Verde Enchilada, instead, so we decided to try some.

We cooked it using the microwave instructions on the back.

The chile verde enchilada had a very nice and balanced savory green chile taste and aroma. It definitely made me feel like I was eating Mexican food.

The texture of the tortillas with the chicken was also good, however, I didn't like the texture of the cheese. Whenever I got a bit of the cheese, it was like mush and not in a good way. I ended up having to scrape the cheese on the top off to enjoy the enchilada. If the cheese wasn't so mushy, it would have been pretty good.

Tub of Pub Cheese from Trader Joe's
Pub Cheese from Trader Joe's

Last time we went to Trader Joe's, we decided to try a spreadable cheese. The Sharp Cheddar Pub Cheese (aka Pug Cheese) jumped off the shelf. Some other spreadable cheeses have mayonnaise, but this didn't have any, which was good. I'm not usually a big fan of spreadable cheeses, but this Pub Cheese had a nice cheddar cheese taste that wasn't weird or too salty, and it was delicious!

I had some with bread, but it's delicious enough to eat by itself directly from the tub. We finished the whole tub in about a week... so we just bought some more. Too bad the Pub Cheese doesn't come in a bigger container :(
