Slice of Carvel Ice Cream Cake

I had a coupon that expired at the end of January for a Carvel ice cream cake, so I decided to use it at Fry's (Kroger). The ice cream cake I got was just one of their smaller, ordinary cakes (not a holiday or football themed one). The directions on the box state to thaw the cake in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes after being frozen, but I ate it without thawing it since I prefer harder ice cream.

The whipped icing on top was lighter than some icings/frostings, and it isn't too sweet. The vanilla layer of the cake also didn't have an overwhelmingly rich vanilla flavor. The chocolate part tasted just like chocolate ice cream and had some crumbly bits, however, the bottom chocolate layer of the cake did melt quickly. The cake was a nice, delicious treat.

Linda's Fudge Cake from Cheesecake Factory

After our dinner at Cheesecake Factory, we were pretty full, but we still decided to try a dessert. I don't like cheesecake, but I do love chocolate cake, so we decided to try Linda's Fudge Cake (that's what they call it on the menu -- we didn't take the cake away from someone named Linda).

The slice of chocolate fudge cake we got was huge! We shared it with a third person and still didn't even make a dent in the cake.

The cake was super rich and chocolate-y and very filling. My favorite part of the cake was the chocolate chips that were on the frosting. It was pretty good, but I think it ended up being too rich and filling for me.

Container of Dreyer's Vanilla & Chocolate Ice Cream
Dreyer's Vanilla & Chocolate Grand Ice Cream

I tried some of Dreyer's half vanilla, half chocolate grand ice cream from Fry's/Kroger. My favorite ice cream flavors are vanilla and chocolate so it seemed like the perfect ice cream for me.

Both flavors had a nice, creamy texture (but wasn't super soft like frozen yogurt).

The vanilla seemed a little on the sweet side compared to some other vanilla ice creams I have had, but it was still pretty good. One thing I often dislike in vanilla ice cream are the vanilla bean dots in them. This vanilla doesn't have those foul dots so that was also good for me.

The chocolate ice cream has a sweet, chocolate flavor, and it goes very well with mini chocolate kisses on top!
