Box of Don Miguel Flautas from Costco
Don Miguel Flautas

Although the box says to refrigerate these chipotle flautas, we tried freezing them so they would last longer.

The flautas have chipotle seasoned chicken inside of a nice flour tortilla. The chicken has a light, somewhat salty chipotle taste. My favorite part is the tortilla. Even though the box says the tortilla is crispy, the tortillas are actually pretty soft after warming them up in the microwave. The only crispy parts are the ends of the flauta.

Even though there is sauce on the chicken, the chicken can still get dry very quickly, especially if you microwave one flauta for more than one minute or two flautas for more than two minutes (if they are warmed up from frozen). However, they are still a nice, quick food to have on hand.

REVIEW – Don Miguel Chipotle Chicken Flautas from Costco

TOTAL disappointment. Where’s the CHICKEN?! I tore apart one tortilla just to find out where the chicken was—this prepared food was a total joke. They state that there are 14 grams of protein in 2 flautas—NO WAY! $10.00 for eight of these was a ripoff!! I agree with T. Thomas, no flavor! NEVER AGAIN!

We freeze them , then let thaw and always cook in the oven at 350. Then we turn oven off, sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and let melt in oven for five minutes.
    They always come out crispy…

This is a monthly staple in our home when we want a quick meal along with refried beans…

I recently found these at Costco in the refrigerator section. I tried heating them in the microwave and in the oven. I love flour tortillas but these tasted doughy and like raw flour no matter which way I heated them. The stuffing mixture was OK but the chicken pieces are so small they may as well not be there. I won’t buy these again. There are better alternatives in the frozen food section.

this is without question the worst purchase I ever made at Costco. Tortilla taste like tough cardboard. Filling was yellowish tan mush with absolutely no flavor. I even had fresh Guac and pico de gallo and that couldn’t save them. I’m disappointed with Costco for carrying them

Did you cook them frozen or thaw first?

I haven’t had these in a while — but in the past after I froze them, I just microwaved them directly from frozen.

The ones I just bought and tried had a very “off” taste to them, threw them out.
